SEVENTH GASTRONOMIC DAYS OF THE FRICANDÓ A MATARÓ
From 22 November to 8 December.
For the seventh year the Guild of Hotels and Tourism of Mataró and lo Maresme organizes the “Autumn of Fricandó to Mataró “, the gastronomic days dedicated to this typical dish, which maintains an evident tradition to the Catalan kitchens since always, as much at domestic level as in the restoration and the gastronomy more nostrada.
This competition began in 2013 to commemorate the centenary of the birth of the poet Salvador Espriu, and also for the fact that it was one of the favourite dishes of this famous Catalan poet. Although he was born in Santa Coloma de Farners, Espriu, son of arenyencs, was closely linked to the Maresme, since he spent summers in Arenys de Mar and was buried in 1985 in the cemetery of “Sinera” in the same fishing village.
This year a total of 8 restaurants will be taking part in the nuggets for this dish, and between 22 November and 8 December they will offer customers the chance to try the fricandó that Espriu liked so much. Some diptychs have been published where the recipe for the dish can be found. You can find more information on the Gremio website, www.gremihostaleria.com.
The participating restaurants are: Can Bruguera, Iluro, Nuevo Daxana, Caminetto, La Girella, La Nueva Rosaleda, Mundial and Mueta, all from Mataró.
